Lycos Energy Posts Strong Q2 Results on Back of Provost Acquisition
Lycos Energy Inc., a Calgary-based company listed on the TSXV under the ticker LCX, reported a significant turnaround in its second-quarter results for 2026. The company swung from a net loss of C$54.6 million in Q2 2025 to a net income of C$3.5 million in Q2 2026.
The improvement was largely due to the acquisition of Alberta assets in the Greater Provost area for $70 million, which roughly doubled the company's current production from around 1,900 boe/d to approximately 3,600 boe/d. The purchase also expanded Lycos' asset base and provided a meaningful boost to its cash flow.
The company's operational performance was marked by a 51% jump in realized crude oil prices, which helped offset the decline in production volumes following the sale of Lloydminster and North assets in 2025. The operating netback reached $51.91/boe, up 61% from Q2 2025.
