Armenia Diversifies Energy Imports Amid Russian Price Hike Threats
Armenia is taking steps to diversify its energy imports after warnings from Russia about potential price hikes. The nation aims to balance economic and security dependencies by securing alternative energy partners.
Addressing reporters in Yerevan, Armenian Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan outlined the government's strategy to secure alternative energy sources. He emphasized that Armenia does not intend to replace dependence on one country with dependence on another.
Instead, the nation plans to buy gas from various regional suppliers, including Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Turkey. This move is in response to concerns about potential Russian natural gas price hikes, which could induce severe economic instability.
