Armenia Eyes Gas Options Beyond Russia Amid Diversification Push
Armenia's Security Council chief Alen Simonyan discussed the country's energy options, including purchasing gas from both Azerbaijan and Iran.
In a recent press conference, Simonyan stated that Armenia is not dependent on one supplier and will diversify its energy sources. He mentioned that if another country offers to transfer gas via transit, they would consider it.
When asked about the price of Russian natural gas, Simonyan noted that there is no information on a possible change in price. However, he emphasized that Armenia's goal is to reduce dependence on one supplier and increase energy independence.
Simonyan stressed that Russia's partners also acknowledge Armenia's sovereignty in making decisions about its energy needs. He stated that Armenia will preserve its independence and not compromise its interests for the sake of political considerations.
