Armenia Open to Buying Gas From Azerbaijan Amid Diversification Efforts

Armenia's Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan has confirmed that the country is open to purchasing natural gas from Azerbaijan. This move comes as Armenia seeks to diversify its energy sources and reduce dependence on a single supplier.

In an interview, Simonyan emphasized that Armenia would consider sourcing gas from multiple countries, including Russia, Iran, and Türkiye, in addition to Azerbaijan. He stated that the country's goal is not to replace one dependency with another but to develop alternative sources of supply.

Simonyan also downplayed concerns about a possible increase in Russian gas prices, saying it was a topic raised primarily through public statements and reactions. Armenia aims to maintain a diverse energy portfolio by sourcing gas from multiple suppliers simultaneously.
