Ashoknagar Oilfield Boosts Crude Processing with QPS Separator Installation
Ashoknagar Oilfield in West Bengal has made significant progress with the addition of a QPS separator for crude processing. This new equipment enables the separation of water and gas from crude oil, allowing for more efficient transportation to the Haldia refinery.
The commercial extraction of crude oil at the North 24 Parganas project has already begun, with Shamik Bhattacharya, Rajya Sabha member and president of the Bharatiya Janata Party's West Bengal unit, inaugurating the new machine on Sunday. The QPS separator supports the initial handling and processing of crude extracted from Ashoknagar.
Bhattacharya alleged that insufficient initiative by the previous administration had contributed to delays in bringing the oilfield into operation. He emphasized that political differences should not affect the use of the state's mineral and natural resources, stating 'There should be no politics over our mineral and natural resources. There will be no political division here.'
The project has seen an investment of approximately Rs 1,100 crore by the Central government so far. Bhattacharya expressed expectations that full-scale operation would bring socio-economic changes to Ashoknagar and the wider North 24 Parganas district.
