Asia-Europe LNG Price War Set to Tighten Market Amid Winter Demand
Rising LNG prices are expected to tighten the market amid intense competition between Europe and Asia for winter supplies, according to International Energy Agency chief Fatih Birol.
The ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Iran has affected Qatari LNG shipments, which constitute about 20% of global supply, pushing buyers into the spot market.
As a result, Asian LNG prices have soared to their highest levels since 2022, while Europe experiences peak demand for natural gas as it seeks alternatives to Russian supplies.
