Asian Markets Waver Amid Global Bond Sell-Off and Oil Price Volatility
Asian markets were mixed on Friday as a global bond sell-off continued to put pressure on stocks. The sell-off has pushed U.S. Treasury yields to their highest in years, with the 10-year yield reaching around 5.17% early in the day.
The Nikkei 225 in Japan gained 1.3% to 66,364.20, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 1.1% to 24,495.35. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.4% to 8,665.00.
ING Bank analysts noted that factors such as elevated energy prices and inflation pressures will likely continue to push U.S. 10-year Treasury yields higher.
