Asian Shares Rise as Oil Prices Dip After Recent Gains
Oil prices declined on Thursday after recent gains, but Asian shares continued to rise in line with Wall Street's performance. Brent crude traded at around $95 a barrel, while US futures edged higher.
The slump in oil prices comes after renewed fighting between the US and Iran earlier this week, which had pushed prices sharply higher. However, US President Donald Trump stated that he does not expect the bombing campaign to last for much longer.
Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index advanced by 0.2% to 64,455.83. Major gainers included SoftBank Group, which rose 2.9%, and Kioxia Holdings, up 0.6%. Benchmark US crude dropped by 0.1% to $90.84 a barrel.
