Atco Pipeline Breaks Ground in Central Alberta
A $2.9 billion natural gas pipeline is set to break ground in central Alberta later this month, bringing an economic boost to the region.
The Atco Yellowhead Pipeline will span 235 kilometers and connect a new compressor station near Peers to the Industrial Heartland region near Fort Saskatchewan.
The project is expected to create 2,000 direct construction jobs and support around 20,000 permanent positions across the province once it's operational.
'It will provide a substantial economic benefit to Yellowhead County, our neighbouring municipalities and Alberta as a whole,' said Yellowhead County Mayor Wade Williams.
