Australia's southeastern region has been found to have rich deposits of copper and gold, potentially worth billions. This discovery was made through Geoscience Australia's Delamerian Project, which examined 300,000 square kilometers across South Australia, NSW, Victoria, and Tasmania.

The project gathered geochemical data from millions of points, aerial surveys, and over five kilometers of drilling. The findings suggest that the Delamarian region is not a single mineral province but a series of distinct metallogenic belts formed during episodes of tectonic evolution.

Copper prices are currently trading at all-time highs due to global supply constraints and surging demand for energy transition, electrification, grid upgrades, data centers, and artificial intelligence. Gold prices have also been strong due to safe-haven demand and central bank buying.
