Australian Share Market Sees Modest Advance Amid Energy and Resources Strength
The Australian share market saw a modest advance at the end of its session, with gains concentrated in energy and resources-related businesses. Gold and mining stocks regained momentum as bond yields stabilized.
Energy stocks remained firm due to elevated crude oil prices, with companies such as Viva Energy Group (ASX:VEA) and Ampol (ASX:ALD) advancing. Oil and gas producers like Beach Energy (ASX:BPT), Woodside Energy (ASX:WDS), Karoon Energy (ASX:KAR), and Santos (ASX:STO) also benefited from the strength in the energy segment.
Gold-related stocks, including Pantoro Gold (ASX:PNR), recovered as benchmark bond yields stopped moving sharply higher. The company recorded a strong advance after reporting encouraging exploration results from its Racetrack Discovery prospect.
