Avista Corporation has submitted rate adjustment requests to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. The company is proposing a decrease of 1.5% in natural gas bills, effective November 1, 2026, and an increase of 6.5% in electric bills starting October 1, 2026.

The decrease in natural gas rates is attributed to lower wholesale gas prices and adjustments in fixed costs and energy efficiency programs. In contrast, the electric rate increase is mainly due to the expiration of a previous rate credit and higher power costs.

According to Avista, these filings aim to align customer rates with actual costs without impacting the company's earnings. The proposals are subject to regulatory approval and public comments.
