Azerbaijan Bolsters Energy Security Role

Azerbaijan is solidifying its position as a major player in the global energy sector, according to Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. In his address to the UN General Assembly, he highlighted the country's growing role in strengthening Europe's energy security.

Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan ranks among the world's leading suppliers of pipeline gas and supplies natural gas to 16 countries. The country's strategic location enables it to act as an 'energy bridge' between producers and consumer markets.

Azerbaijan is also investing in renewable energy, with plans to commission major solar and wind projects, expand its hydropower potential, and develop new clean energy initiatives. By 2030, around 40% of the country's electricity is expected to come from renewable sources.
