Azerbaijan Boosts Grain Imports from Türkiye Amid Global Market Shift
Azerbaijan significantly increased its spending on grain and legume imports from Türkiye in the first eight months of this year, according to data released by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly. The country imported a total of $127.372 million worth of grains, pulses, oilseeds, and processed products from Türkiye during January-August 2023, representing a 15.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
In August alone, exports of these products from Türkiye to Azerbaijan reached $16.196 million, up 20.9% year-on-year. This surge in imports comes as the total exports of grains, pulses, oilseeds, and processed products from Türkiye decreased by 1.9% to $7.893 billion during the same period.
The largest importers of Turkish products were Iraq, which accounted for $983.543 million worth of imports, down 15.8%, followed by the United States at $596.871 million, up 35.2%, and Spain at $330.309 million, also up 35.2%.
