Azerbaijan Eyes Metal Production Boost Amid Global Demand Surge
Azerbaijan's economy is set to benefit from an increase in metal production as part of a new state program. The country aims to boost copper, gold, and silver output, with copper production expected to rise significantly. The expansion of local raw material supplies could also support the development of new industrial sectors.
According to Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, global demand for metals is projected to increase by 23% for aluminum, 21% for copper, and 15% for zinc over the next decade. Gold demand is expected to grow by 10%. The prices of strategic metals have risen significantly over the past decade, with further growth anticipated.
Jabbarov noted that total exports of copper, gold, and silver are projected to rise from AZN 600 million in 2025 to AZN 1.6 billion by 2030. The forecast is based on average global prices recorded in 2025.
