Azerbaijan Fuel Oil Production Surges 31.1% in First Seven Months
Azerbaijan's heavy fuel oil production has surged by 31.1% in the first seven months of this year compared to the same period last year, according to a report from the State Statistics Committee.
The country produced a total of 74,200 tons of heavy fuel oil from January through July 2026, marking an increase of 17,600 tons over the same period in 2025. This significant rise in production is a positive development for Azerbaijan's energy sector.
Meanwhile, the stock of finished heavy fuel oil at the warehouses of the country's industrial enterprises stood at 5,100 tons as of August 1 this year.
Jihad Azour, director of the International Monetary Fund's Middle East and Central Asia Department, emphasized the importance of efficiently managing revenues generated by the energy sector to strengthen long-term economic resilience. He noted that effective management of oil and gas prices is particularly crucial given the high volatility in global energy markets.
