Azerbaijan Pledges Gas Supply Support for Ukraine Amid Regional Energy Concerns

Azerbaijan has reaffirmed its commitment to supplying natural gas to Ukraine, signaling its readiness to meet any potential energy needs.

During a joint press conference in Kyiv with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the country's strategic role in ensuring Europe's energy security. Azerbaijan currently supplies natural gas to 12 European countries, including 10 members of the European Union.

Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan has a long-standing presence in the Ukrainian market through its State Oil Company (SOCAR), which continues to operate actively and plans further development of energy cooperation. The minister highlighted the potential for leveraging Ukraine's extensive underground gas storage capacity as a promising area of bilateral cooperation to strengthen regional energy security.

Azerbaijan has been increasingly recognized as a critical energy partner for Europe, particularly following its strategic partnership with the European Commission in 2022. This partnership aims to double the volume of gas exports from Azerbaijan to the EU by 2027, further solidifying the country's position as a reliable energy supplier.
