Azerbaijan's exports of petroleum bitumen and coke surged in the first seven months of this year, according to data from the State Customs Committee.

The country exported 151,100 tons of petroleum coke worth $59.9 million during this period, which represents a 71.6% increase in value terms compared to the same time last year.

In addition, Azerbaijan shipped out 9,768 tons of petroleum bitumen valued at $2.88 million from January through July, marking a 2.7-fold increase in value and 2.4 times the volume exported during the same period in 2025.

The uptick in exports is attributed to ongoing projects aimed at maintaining stable oil production and increasing it in the long term, particularly those implemented by bp, the operator of Azerbaijan's main oil fields.
