Bahamas Gets Floating LNG Terminal to Boost Power Generation
New Providence Gas, a joint venture between Shell Bahamas Power Co. and Sun Oil Holdings, is developing LNG import infrastructure to support natural gas supply and power generation on New Providence Island in The Bahamas.
The company has commissioned an FLNG import terminal offshore the island, thanks to a charter agreement with ECOnnect Energy's IQuay C-Class floating LNG infrastructure.
The 'La Santa Maria' system allows for direct transfer of LNG from a carrier to an onshore storage facility via flexible pipelines, eliminating the need for coastal construction associated with traditional terminals.
