Baker Hughes Wins Contract for Louisiana LNG Terminal Project
Baker Hughes has been selected by Venture Global LNG to supply the hyper refrigerant technologies required for its CP2 liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal project in Louisiana. The company will provide six liquefaction blocks, each containing two mixed-refrigerant modules and compression trains with Baker Hughes' centrifugal compressor technology.
The CP2 LNG terminal is estimated to cost more than $15 billion and has secured close to $19 billion in initial customer commitments for the project. It is expected to produce and export 20 million metric tons of LNG initially, rising to 29 million metric tons annually once operations reach peak levels later this decade.
The collaboration between Baker Hughes and Venture Global LNG reflects their shared commitment to scaling modular LNG solutions that accelerate U.S. supply and support global energy security. The partnership has been ongoing since the $8.6 billion second phase project was announced, and Baker Hughes' chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli said 'Our continued collaboration reflects the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment.'
The CP2 LNG terminal is one of several U.S. projects that have deepened reserves and expanded production to historic levels, elevating the nation into the top spot globally for LNG exports.
