The gold price in Bangalore has remained steady on August 31, trading at ₹15,890 per gram for 24-karat gold. This is within ₹200 of its level for most of August and a year ago.

Dealers in the city's jewelry districts report that footfall has been higher than usual this month, driven partly by buyers trying to get ahead of expected higher prices during Diwali season.

A significant portion of these buyers are technology sector employees who approach gold as an investment opportunity. They prefer buying bars and coins with documented provenance over traditional sovereigns.

The World Gold Council has noted that investment demand is a key driver of India's gold consumption, which has remained elevated despite high prices. The council's research flags this trend for 2026, pointing to the structural support provided by central bank demand and the dollar-hedge thesis.
