Bangladesh Diversifies Gas Supplies Amid Hormuz Disruptions
Bangladesh is struggling to meet its energy needs due to disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. To mitigate this crisis, the country is turning to Southeast Asia for natural gas supplies.
The immediate solution involves buying liquefied natural gas from Malaysia using specialized cryogenic containers, also known as ISO tanks. This will provide a temporary reprieve from the energy shortages plaguing the nation.
In the longer term, Bangladesh plans to build a pipeline for importing gas from Myanmar. This will reduce dependence on Persian Gulf shipments and alleviate the strain on the country's energy infrastructure.
