Bangladesh Floods Market with Record Indian Wheat Buys

Bangladesh has booked over 200,000 tonnes of Indian wheat since India lifted export restrictions in late August. This marks the country's first substantial wheat imports from India since May 2022.

Before New Delhi restricted exports in May 2022, Bangladesh bought nearly 70% of its wheat from India. The recent surge in demand is due to disruptions in grain shipments from the Black Sea region.

The orders come as prices rise due to these disruptions. People familiar with the transactions told Bloomberg that delivered prices would range from $305 to $326 a tonne.
