Bangladesh Gas Crisis Eases as Regasified LNG Supply Increases

A severe gas crisis in Bangladesh has begun to ease as regasified LNG (RLNG) supply from the Moheshkhali terminal increased, improving pressure levels across the country.

The shortage of gas supply was caused by a technical fault at the floating terminal, reducing LNG delivery and hitting households, industries, and CNG-run vehicles hard.

Nasrin Sultana, a housewife in Dhanmondi, said that while the gas pressure had improved on Friday (August 7), it was still not enough for easy cooking.

CNG stations and petrol pumps witnessed moderate queues for fuel, with drivers like Badsha Mia waiting about an hour to refuel after weeks of long lines and shortages.
