Bangladesh Gas Crisis Persists Despite New LNG Shipment

A new shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has arrived at Excelerate Energy's floating LNG terminal in Moheshkhali, Bangladesh. The arrival is expected to improve gas supply, but officials say it won't ease the country's gas crisis immediately.

The cargo will be unloaded and regasified before entering the national grid. Excelerate's floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) at Moheshkhali can supply around 600 million cubic feet of gas per day at full capacity.

Since a fire on July 21, the terminal has faced repeated disruptions. It stopped supplying gas on August 19 when its LNG stock ran out, and supply resumed only after a few days.
