Bangladesh Gas Supply Recovers as LNG Transfer Resumes
Gas supply in Bangladesh started to recover on Friday morning after falling sharply due to adverse weather conditions that disrupted LNG transfer at the Maheshkhali floating terminal. According to Petrobangla, daily gas demand stands at 3.8 billion cubic feet (bcf), while supply had been maintained at 2.65-2.70 bcf for an extended period.
Petrobangla sources stated that the LNG transfer from a cargo to the floating terminal resumed on Friday, bringing gas supply back to normal. The company reported that supply stood at 2.6 bcf on Wednesday before falling to 2.2 bcf on Thursday evening, a decline of 400 million cubic feet.
The Maheshkhali floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) operate offshore in Cox's Bazar and can supply up to 1.05 bcf of LNG daily. Although a new LNG cargo arrived, adverse weather prevented its transfer to the terminal on Thursday, causing a significant drop in LNG supply.
