Bangladesh Gold Prices Soar as BAJUS Announces New Rates
The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced an increase in gold prices for the local bullion market on July 31, 2026. According to the new price, 22-carat gold per bhori has been increased by Tk. 2,216 from Tk. 2,20,858 to Tk. 2,23,074. Similarly, 21-carat gold per bhori has been increased by Tk. 2,100 from Tk. 2,10,943 to Tk. 2,13,043.
The price of traditional (Sonaton) gold per bhori has also been increased by Tk. 1,458 from Tk. 1,48,016 to Tk. 1,49,474. The association stated that the new prices will take effect starting July 31, 2026.
Gold in Bangladesh is measured based on its purity using the carat (or karat) system. The common purity levels are 24 Carat (99.9% pure gold), 22 Carat (91.67% pure gold), and 18 Carat (75% pure gold). Traditional Gold (Sonaton) has a variable purity, often lower than 18K.
