The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced a reduction in gold prices across the local bullion market on Sunday, October 25, 2026. The new prices took effect immediately, reflecting a decrease in the value of various gold purities. For 22-carat gold, the price per bhori (11.664 grams) dropped by 3,324 taka, from 2,24,182 taka to 2,20,858 taka. Similarly, 21-carat gold saw a reduction of 3,150 taka, bringing its price down to 2,10,943 taka per bhori. The price of 18-carat gold decreased by 2,683 taka, now standing at 1,81,200 taka per bhori, while traditional (Sonaton) gold fell by 2,216 taka to 1,48,016 taka per bhori.

The price adjustments were detailed in a notice from BAJUS, providing a breakdown of gold prices per ana (0.728 grams) for different purities. For instance, 22-carat gold per ana is now priced at 13,803.62 taka, while 21-carat gold per ana costs 13,183.94 taka. The association also highlighted that buyers must pay more than the set price when purchasing gold jewelry due to a 5% VAT and a minimum making charge of 3,500 taka per bhori.

Gold in Bangladesh is categorized by purity using the carat system, with common levels including 24-carat (99.9% pure), 22-carat (91.67% pure), 21-carat (87.5% pure), and 18-carat (75% pure). The primary unit for measuring gold is the bhori, equivalent to 11.664 grams. Gold is widely used for jewelry, investment, and currency, with 22-carat gold being the most common for making ornaments due to its durability and value.

Additionally, the association provided updated silver prices, with 22-carat silver priced at 4,316 taka per bhori, 21-carat silver at 4,141 taka, 18-carat silver at 3,558 taka, and traditional silver at 2,683 taka per bhori. These updates were published on October 26, 2026, to keep the public informed about the latest market trends.
