Bangladesh Jewelers Association Hikes Gold Prices by Up to 2,158 Taka

The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced an increase in gold prices on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The new prices took effect immediately and will impact consumers purchasing gold jewelry. According to BAJUS, the price of highest quality 22-carat gold has increased by 2,158 taka, from 2,34,621 taka to 2,36,779 taka per bhori. Similarly, 21-carat gold prices rose by 2,100 taka, and 18-carat gold prices increased by 1,808 taka. Traditional (Sonaton) gold saw a price hike of 1,458 taka.

The new gold prices are as follows: 22 carat gold at 2,36,779 taka per bhori, with unit prices ranging from 14,798.69 to 29,597.38 taka for each ana. 21 carat gold is priced at 2,26,165 taka per bhori, with unit prices between 14,135.31 and 28,270.62 taka. 18 carat gold costs 1,94,206 taka per bhori, with unit prices from 12,137.88 to 24,275.75 taka.

It's essential for buyers to note that a 5% VAT is added to the fixed price when purchasing gold jewelry, and a minimum making charge of 3,500 taka per 'bhori' applies.
