Bangladesh Jewellers Association Slashes Gold Price by Tk2,216 per Bhori
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has dropped the price of gold by Tk2,216 per bhori just a day after it was increased.
In a notice issued on July 28, Bajus set the new price of 22-carat gold at Tk220,858 including VAT. The revised prices took effect from 10am.
The association also reduced the prices of other types of gold: 21-carat gold is now priced at Tk210,943 per bhori (down by Tk2,100), 18-carat gold has been cut to Tk181,200 per bhori (a reduction of Tk1,750), and traditional gold has seen a price drop of Tk1,458 to Tk148,016 per bhori.
The revised prices will remain effective at all jewellery shops until further notice, with making charges varying depending on the design of the ornament. Bajus also clarified that VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments, and customers cannot be charged VAT separately.
