Bangladesh Jewellers Cut Gold Prices by Tk 1,691 per Bhori
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a price reduction for gold, effective from Monday morning. The price of 22-carat gold has been cut by Tk 1,691 per bhori, setting it at Tk 2,29,081, including VAT. Other gold variants have also seen adjustments, with 21-carat gold now priced at Tk 2,18,817, 18-carat gold at Tk 1,87,907, and traditional-method gold at Tk 1,53,498 per bhori.
BAJUS cited the overall market situation as the reason for the price revision. The association also clarified that making charges will apply based on jewellery design and that VAT is already included in the selling prices, so no separate VAT can be collected from customers. For jewellery exchange, a 12% deduction will apply, while an 18% deduction will be applied in case of purchase, excluding making charges and the value of stones.
This marks the 121st adjustment of gold prices in Bangladesh this year, with 59 increases, 61 decreases, and one VAT adjustment. In contrast, silver prices have remained unchanged, with 22-carat silver selling at Tk 4,316 per bhori, including VAT. Silver prices have been adjusted 73 times so far this year, with 36 increases and 37 decreases.
