Bangladesh Keeps Fuel Prices Unchanged Amid Global Market Volatility
Despite ongoing turmoil in the Middle East and global energy market volatility, Bangladesh has kept its domestic fuel prices unchanged for October. The move aims to provide stability to consumers and the transport sector amid continued uncertainty.
The government's decision comes after a Tk.20-per-litre increase in September. Under current pricing structures, diesel is being sold at Tk.135 per litre, octane at Tk.165, petrol at Tk.160, and kerosene at Tk.155. These prices have remained effective from October 1.
The Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has incurred substantial losses while maintaining relatively lower domestic prices during periods of high international fuel costs. Between March and August this year, BPC lost around Tk.22,876 crore.
