The Bangladeshi government has secured five additional LNG (liquefied natural gas) cargoes to meet the country's growing energy demand. According to Petrobangla Director (Finance) A.K.M. Mizanur Rahman, these shipments will contain around 16 million MMBtu of LNG.

The imports have been made under various arrangements - spot-market, long-term and short-term purchase agreements. This will help maintain stability in the country's gas supply system.

Bangladesh imports LNG from three sources: long-term contracts, short-term contracts, and the spot market. A total of nine LNG cargoes are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh in August, with four already having arrived.

The remaining five shipments will reach the country later this month - on August 17, 21, 23, 27, and 30. These imports come after Bangladesh secured a total of 11 LNG cargoes in July, containing around 35.2 million MMBtu.
