European Gas Prices Surge on Storage Worries Amid Tight LNG Supplies

European natural gas prices are on the rise due to concerns over storage levels ahead of the winter season. According to ING, the Dutch TTF futures contract has increased as market participants weigh the risks of insufficient supplies.

The core issue is the pace at which European gas storage facilities are being filled. While current levels are not critically low, the rate of injection has slowed, raising questions about whether the region will enter the heating season with adequate reserves.

ING analysts point to a combination of factors, including ongoing supply disruptions and increased competition for liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Asia. Europe has relied heavily on LNG imports to replace Russian pipeline gas, but global supply remains tight.
