Bangladesh Seeks Pipeline Gas Imports from Myanmar
Bangladesh's Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood proposed importing natural gas from Myanmar through a pipeline. The proposal was made during a meeting with Myanmar Ambassador to Bangladesh U Kyaw Soe Moe.
The minister said Bangladesh has substantial demand for natural gas and is interested in securing supplies from Myanmar through a pipeline. He also mentioned the possibility of building a gas pipeline from Myanmar to Chattogram.
Myanmar's ambassador responded positively, suggesting that the two countries could discuss supplying gas to Bangladesh in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
