Bay Runner Twin Sanctioned as Enbridge Expands LNG Export Capacity

Enbridge Inc., along with its partners, has announced the sanctioning of the Bay Runner Twin pipeline, which will deliver Permian natural gas to NextDecade's Rio Grande LNG facility. The Bay Runner Twin will provide up to 2.6 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of incremental capacity between Agua Dulce and Rio Grande.

The Bay Runner Twin is part of Enbridge's expansion plans, which include building the Blackcomb Pipeline. The Blackcomb Pipeline has already begun commissioning and will soon enter service, moving up to 2.5 Bcf/d of gas from the Permian to Agua Dulce.

Enbridge owns a 19% stake in the Whistler joint venture partnership, which includes the Bay Runner pipeline. The company's Executive Vice President and President of Gas Transmission, Matthew Akman, stated that Enbridge has looked at Permian gas transmission 'strategically' and advanced it 'very intentionally in the past few years.'

The Rio Grande LNG facility is expected to ship its first product in 2027 and will have about 6.3 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of LNG export capacity.
