BC Approves Tilbury LNG Expansion Amid Environmental Concerns

British Columbia's Environment and Parks Minister Tamara Davidson, along with Energy and Climate Solutions Minister Adrian Dix, have approved the environmental assessment certificate for FortisBC to expand its existing liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility on Tilbury Island in Delta.

The expansion will add a large new storage tank and new equipment capable of producing up to 7,700 tonnes of LNG per day within the existing footprint of the Tilbury facility.

FortisBC's Tilbury LNG facility provides backup supply to the Lower Mainland gas system during periods of peak demand and produces LNG for domestic and international markets.
