BC Politicians Engage in LNG Sector Credit Grab

British Columbia's two largest political parties are vying to take credit for the province's growing liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector.

A final investment decision on LNG Canada's Phase 2 is expected soon, with the project aiming to increase production capacity by up to 2.5 million tonnes per year.

B.C. NDP Leader David Eby claims that his party can take credit for the development of the sector, saying it is a result of work done by his administration and previous governments to bring down emissions and deliver benefits to the province.

In contrast, B.C. Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson argues that the NDP's policies have hindered the growth of the LNG industry, pointing out that there were over 20 proposed projects under the previous Liberal government but only about a quarter have gone ahead.
