Bechtel Completes Corpus Christi Stage 3 Project Milestone
Bechtel, a leading engineering, construction and procurement (EPC) firm, has reached a significant milestone in its broad liquefied natural gas (LNG) portfolio. The company announced on August 28 that it had completed the original seven trains of Cheniere Energy's Corpus Christi Stage 3 project.
The Stage 3 Project began construction in 2021, with each train capable of producing around 1.49 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG. The addition of these trains has boosted Cheniere's production by over 20%, bringing its total output to approximately 56 MTPA from its Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast facilities.
However, Bechtel is not done with the project yet. The company will soon begin work on two additional mid-scale trains that will add another 3 MTPA of LNG production. Cheniere has also awarded Bechtel the EPC contract for the expansion of its Sabine Pass plant in Louisiana, which will include the construction of Train 7 and potentially two more similarly sized trains.
