Belarus Boosts Oil Processing Capacity with New Smarhon Plant
A large oil production plant has been built in Smarhon, Belarus, by Belagraterminal, a company owned by Alexander and Natalia Lutsenko's international group Sodruzhestvo (Commonwealth). The new complex will process up to 3 thousand tons of oilseeds per day, increasing the total capacities of the Smarhon complex from 660 thousand to 1.72 million tons of raw materials per year.
The expansion is expected to create around 300 new jobs in the region. The plant will process rapeseed, soybeans, flax, and sunflower seeds, which is a significant development for Belarusian industrial processing on such a scale.
The infrastructure includes its own boiler house with a capacity of 50 tons of steam per hour, and will use sunflower husks as fuel. The complex also has reservoirs for storing vegetable oils and a warehouse terminal with a volume of 288 thousand cubic meters.
