BHP Copper Price Surge Sends Shares to Record High
BHP Group Ltd shares reached an all-time high of $67.72 on Monday as copper prices surged, propelling miners higher.
The mining giant's stock climbed by as much as 3.9% from Friday's closing price of $65.16, driven by increasing demand for the red metal in artificial intelligence infrastructure, electrification, and energy network investment.
Copper prices jumped 1.8% to $6.68 per pound in US trading on Friday, bolstered by tight physical supply and growing demand.
BHP's FY26 results, released last week, showed copper overtaking iron ore as the company's largest earnings contributor for the first time, with copper generating around $18 billion of underlying EBITDA, accounting for over half of group underlying earnings.
