India's Stock Market Declines Amid US-Iran Tensions
Markets in India declined in early trade on Tuesday amid escalating geopolitical tensions and elevated crude oil prices. The Sensex, a benchmark index for the Indian stock market, was down 30 points to 77,336.32.
The Nifty, another key index, dipped 38.80 points to 24,179.50. Among the Sensex firms, HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra were among the major laggards.
Brent crude prices rose by 0.35% to $92.49 per barrel. The US-Iran standoff has escalated with a new sanctions campaign against Iran, according to Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.
Hariselvan Radhakrishnan, Founder & CEO of HST Wealth, predicted that Indian markets may experience heightened volatility due to the renewed escalation in the US-Iran standoff and monthly expiry-related rollovers.
