Bidriware, a centuries-old metal craft from Bidar, is facing challenges due to rising prices of silver, copper, and zinc. The cost of producing each piece has increased substantially since these metals' prices began to rise sharply over the past two years.

The price of silver has risen from ₹95,700 per kg in 2024 to around ₹2.50 lakh currently, while copper prices have increased from ₹750 per kg in 2024 to around ₹1,450 per kg in 2026. Zinc prices have also risen from ₹230 to around ₹400 per kg.

Artisans and small-scale producers are struggling to pass on the entire increase in input costs to customers due to a price-sensitive domestic market. The resulting squeeze has affected both demand and their profit margins.
