Bitcoin's price has dropped below $83,000 after reaching a peak near $85,000 on Sunday. The cryptocurrency's value fell to around $82,700 on some marketplaces, erasing part of its September rally.

The decline comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran return to the forefront, with Nasdaq futures also declining while oil prices rise again. Donald Trump did not rule out new US strikes against Iran, which has added to the geopolitical risk.

Bitcoin's price had already fallen below $77,000 in early September after US strikes against Iran, with oil prices exceeding $93 at that time. This time around, Bitcoin came closer to $87,374 on September 21, its highest level since January, before falling back below $83,000.

The movement has affected other major cryptocurrencies, with Ether, XRP, and Solana trading in the red. Nasdaq futures were down about 0.7% at the start of the session.
