Black Sea Disruptions Shake Global Wheat Market
Disruptions to Black Sea ports are causing uncertainty in the global wheat market. According to NDSU Extension Crops Economist Frayne Olson, buyers are monitoring both the extent and duration of the disruptions.
The big concern right now is how much damage was done and how long this will last, and we really don't know, said Olson.
Some buyers are purchasing additional wheat to protect against delayed or missed deliveries. However, Olson cautioned farmers against assuming the disruption will lead to an extended surge in prices.
