Black Sea Export Blockage Imminent as Ukraine Attacks Continue
Russian grain producers are warning of a looming export blockage in the Black Sea due to ongoing attacks by Ukraine. The union of Russian grain exporters and producers has stated that these attacks will likely lead to a complete blockage of grain export corridors, resulting in price rises that will disproportionately affect developing countries.
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is causing significant disruption to agricultural exports in the region. Both countries are major wheat exporters, with Russia being the world's largest wheat exporter.
The union estimates that the shortfall in supply of Russian wheat this season could reach 30-35 million tons due to the blockage.
