BLM Transfers Land to Support Louisiana LNG Hub Development
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has transferred ownership of a 3-acre parcel in Cameron Parish, Louisiana to support development of a new liquefied natural gas hub. The land was previously used by the US Coast Guard as a lighthouse beacon and is now being considered for sale to Cameron Land Ventures LLC, an affiliate of Venture Global LNG, Inc.
The proposed project aims to provide infrastructure for the liquefaction, onsite storage, and export transport of natural gas. According to Shayne Banks, Acting BLM Southeastern States District Manager, the land sale 'helps advance American Energy Dominance by meeting energy infrastructure needs, while supporting transparency and a fair return to the public.'
The transfer is part of the Department of the Interior's efforts to support energy development in the region. The proposed project aligns with Executive Orders 14154 and 14156, as well as Secretary's Order 3418, which aim to cut red tape, streamline environmental review processes, and expand supply chain capacity.
