Blocked Ports Threaten Ukraine's Agricultural Sector with Up to $3 Billion in Losses
Ukraine's agricultural sector is facing significant losses due to blocked ports, which could amount to $1.5-3 billion, according to Taras Vysotskyi, Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.
The maritime route remains crucial for Ukraine's agricultural exports, with approximately 90% of grain and oilseed exports shipped through Black Sea ports.
Alternative logistics routes are physically incapable of fully replacing maritime transport, ensuring only 45-50% of the country's annual agricultural exports under favorable conditions.
Vysotskyi emphasized that even rail, road, and Danube routes cannot fully replace seaports, highlighting the challenge faced by Ukraine's agricultural sector.
