Greatland Resources Rides Record Gold Prices to New Heights
The Australian gold sector was on fire on Wednesday, August 5, as Greatland Resources (ASX: GGP) led the pack with a 6.24% gain to $10.99.
The company's shares climbed in tandem with other gold miners as investors sought out producers with leverage to record bullion prices. The S&P/ASX 200 index reached an all-time high, trading at 9,191.50, while the All Ordinaries Gold index surged by 4.72%.
Greatland's strong performance is due in part to its healthy balance sheet and robust cash generation from current operations. With over A$1.2 billion in cash and no debt, the company can self-fund a significant portion of its growth projects, including the Havieron development.
The payoff for Greatland's investment in Havieron is several years away, with first gold production not expected until FY29. However, the company's diversified operations and exposure to both gold and copper provide a compelling growth story.
