BP Shares Soar on Oil Price Surge and Improved Financials
BP shares have surged after a week of turbulent trading, rising by 5.09% to 549.5 pence per share.
The gains were largely driven by a 6.39% increase in Brent crude prices, which provided BP with the opportunity to accelerate its debt-cutting efforts.
BP's financial metrics have shown significant improvement, with underlying replacement-cost profit increasing by 79.2% to $5.73 billion and operating cash flow rising by 279.7% to $10.86 billion in Q2 2026.
However, the company still faces challenges, including poor plant reliability, which dropped to 92.4% in Q2 compared to 95.7% in Q1.
